Self adhesive producer Harlands Labels has improved it’s existing BRC IoP Category A accreditation to the more stringent and controlled Category B, meaning that the business is now able to produce labels for direct application to food products.

Ian Wright, managing director, said, ‘Harlands has long viewed progression and continual development as a key factor in providing high levels of customer satisfaction and this latest advance is a strategic move to make ourselves as accessible to the market as possible.

‘As is now commonplace at Harlands we have replicated the requirements of the new standard to our Polish facility meaning that both of our production facilities have both ISO 9000:2000 and BRC IoP Category B.’

Hygiene manager Sue Webster worked alongside Kath Cotterill, Clondalkin group quality manager, to drive the project forward and implemented the measures that led to the audit on 19th January. Commenting on the achievement, Sue said: ‘Everyone has supported the project from day one and pulled together to ensure we made the grade. We have also implemented an ongoing assessment and training programmed which is aimed at continued adherence and development of our certification.’

Harlands Labels is part of the specialist packaging division of the Clondalkin Group, which specializes in cartons, labels, leaflet inserts and plastic cards with operations in the United Kingdom (Boxes Prestige, Boxes GH and Ditone Labels), in Ireland (Guy & Company and Guysal), in the Netherlands (Boxes LPFC and Linde), in Poland (Boxes Prestige) and in the United States (BBF Labels, Plastic Cards and Inserts).
