Indian seminars examine packaging technology and quality assessment systems

The Indian government is sponsoring an international seminar to share information on the latest developments in packaging technology and machinery for the food processing sector, including quality assessment systems. The seminar will take place on February 18-27 2008 and includes a session dedicated to different label technologies.
The governments department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) – part of the ministry of science and technology – is engaged in facilitating industrial research and catalyzing technology promotion, development and utilization. The department has entrusted the task of designing and conducting the program to SIES School of Packaging/ Packaging Technology Center (SIES-SOP/PTC), Mumbai.
The seminar seeks to identify appropriate sources of packaging technology and machinery including label application machinery – for the food processing sector, and to formulate collaborative project proposals for the development of packaging technologies to address emerging market demands.
The SIES School of Packaging, a recognized SIRO (Scientific & Industrial Research Organization) by DSIR and an approved ISO 9001:2000 organization, has affiliations with the Victoria University of technology, Victoria University, Australia, Esko Graphics, E.I. Dupont and other national and international bodies.
SIES is asking international organizations to nominate attendees involved in relevant industry sectors, including packaging machinery manufacturers, package converters and package users with specific reference to food processing and packaging.
