Alpha-Cure marks 25 years of success

In 1996, business partners Mark Slater, Karl Baier, Shane Atherstone and Steve Haines combined their collective knowledge and experience in UV technology and launched Alpha-Cure. From their factory in a small village of Woodford Halse, Northamptonshire, the partners initially began manufacturing a small range of premium UV lamps.

‘When we started, we were predominantly a print supply-based company operating from a single building in the Midlands. However, we’ve grown into a worldwide presence and now specialize in different industries,’ said Haines.

A quarter of a century later, the company employs over 250 staff across branches in the UK, France, Germany, China, and Australia, with an extensive network of dealers and distributors around the globe. With a portfolio of over 20,000 lamp types, Alpha-Cure boasts one of the largest ranges of UV lamps and accessories globally.

Today, the company specializes in a diverse range of industries, constantly growing into different sectors. These include printing and packaging trades such as labels and bottles. In addition, UV is used in the production of canned drinks where UV provides a durable surface and offers protection from abrasion and corrosion. Other industries using UV technology include automotive, furniture manufacturing and the electronics industry. 

In 2016, the company launched the Alpha-Purify brand was as a dedicated disinfection branch, which sells UV lamps and equipment that help protect people against harmful viruses. 

‘We’ve brought new technologies to the market, which have resulted in modern UV lamps lasting significantly longer than they used to 25 years ago,’ added Haines. To mark this fantastic 25-year milestone, Alpha-Cure is holding a huge celebration in July for all the staff in the UK with food, drinks, and entertainment to thank them for all their hard work over the years.
