Essentra Tapes sees strong RippaTapes sales

According to the company, the rapid rise in the profile of RippaTape is mainly driven by high demand for enhanced direct-to-consumer eCommerce packaging. RippaTape, applied to packs during the converting process using an in-line applicator, enables paper and board packaging to be easily opened with a single tear.

Ian Beresford, head of marketing and development at Essentra Tapes, welcomed the news, saying; 'As demand for high-performance eCommerce packaging remains high even in the aftermath of the pandemic, more brands and converters are seeking to enhance their packaging offer with sustainable end user convenience features. We are delighted to offer one of the best-performing solutions that fulfils this need for so many across the packaging industry.

'More and more, the eCommerce industry is realising that a positive opening experience is the first step to positive user feedback and brand loyalty. Packaging can be much more than something that gets discarded once the consumer receives their product – it can be an integral part of consuming that product.'

Responding to the global surge in demand for RippaTape, Essentra Tapes has made new appointments to sales teams operating in several markets.

It has also continued to invest heavily in R&D to improve sustainability in its product offer, says Essentra.

Beresford added that this puts the company in a strong position to meet growing demand for volume and improved sustainability in the packaging industry, saying; 'We recently bolstered our operations across Europe, North and South America, and the APAC region in anticipation that this drives increased RippaTape sales, supported by our applicator business, and it also readies us for the imminent release of more sustainable alternatives, which has already been subject to intense interest from across the industry.

'At a time when there is so much uncertainty for many businesses, we are thankful to be in a position where our present and future are flourishing. We can put our sales success down to our market-leading innovations and, of course, our hardworking staff across the globe – but there is much more to come from us.'
