Indian exhibitors set to make a mark at Labelexpo Europe

With more than 600 exhibitors, spread over nine halls, two new features making their show debut at Labelexpo Europe this year and a most extensive educational program to date, the 40th edition is set to be the biggest ever.

This is for the first time that more than 20 Indian exhibitors will represent the country at its landmark edition. Every Indian exhibitor that Labels & Labeling spoke to expressed interest in attending the new Flexible Packaging Arena and Sustainability Insight Café as well as atleast one of the expert-led master classes and a workshop.

Lisa Milburn, managing director, Labelexpo Global Series, said: ‘While there are too many live demonstrations at the show floor this year, I would urge visitors to get along to at least one live flexible packaging demonstration!’

The Sustainability Insight Café will feature a wide range of practical solutions to a range of sustainability challenges, including switchable adhesives, thinner materials, linerless, liner recycling, compostable and biomass-based films.

Here is a brief of products that the companies will showcase at the show floor.

Acme Rolltech will launch anilox rolls and sleeves for high opacity white inks and tactile effects for narrow web printing alongside cleaning solutions. The company started commercial production in April 2019 and is offering rolls to various industries including labels, offset, CI machines in flexible packaging, speciality coating applications amongst others.

Convertech Equipment will display its Sureprint Series 1000 and Excel Pro doctor blades, the latter optimized for printing metallic printing inks.

Cosmo Films will showcase polypropylene films for repositionable and removable label applications, matte coated pressure sensitive labelstock films, transparent in-mold label film, high tear resistant synthetic paper, high speed WAL film, and pearlized metalized WAL film.

Kapil Anand, Head Sales, Speciality Labels & Industrial Films, Cosmo Films, said: ‘Labelexpo Europe is a platform to interact with new customers and understand new industry trends in labeling and sustainability. We also hope to get new and good enquiries for our showcased products.

Further, we are looking at attending the master class on Inks, Coatings and Varnishes; as well as Sustainability Insights Café this year.’

Max Speciality Films will showcase new products including label films with high optical properties and gloss in the range of 90 and 95. Alongside, the company will exhibit thicker transparent label film with ultra-high film clarity, in-line coated BOPP label films for superior adhesive and print receptivity, and wrap around label film designed for high-speed bottling applications.

Dr. Kedar Ratkanthwar, manager research and application development at Max, said: ‘We expect the industry to take note of our sustainable and future-ready products. The company will observe and learn about promising new sustainable technologies and trends. Lastly, our team intends to attend a master class on Digital Label and Package Printing this year.’

Monotech Systems will showcase its Jetsci Colornovo UV inkjet digital label press with enhanced features and improvements. It utilizes the PiezoDoD inkjet print head technology that enables it to print high quality labels at 600 x 600 dpi resolution at speeds of up to 50m/min. This press with 330mm print width delivers the expectations of a label printer with fast ROI and no click charges. The press was first launched at Labelexpo India 2018

Multitec will demonstrate its updated S1 press with auto-register capabilities in 450mm width. The press has undergone a complete design change in terms of ergonomics as compared to the previous generation S1. Job change time has been further reduced and more in-line converting options like a full width two peel and reseal kit has been introduced. 

Amit Ahuja, sales director, Multitec, said: ‘This is the fifth edition of Labelexpo Europe for our company with a live press on display. The industry expects innovation from us and that is what we will deliver once again. The press will run only flexible packaging jobs this year on PVC shrink films, OPP films, PET and polyester thin films.

We will also introduce our hybrid digital press which has just been launched and hopefully will be shown live at the next show in 2021.

Further, we are looking forward to engaging with new customers and agents from different regions.’

Shree Lamipack will make its debut at Labelexpo Europe this year with focus on holographic labels, labelstock, silicone liners and thermal transfer ribbons. The company exporting to various countries is looking at further spreading its wings in the global market and continues to invest in its factory and machineries to cater to customers’ demands. 

UV Graphic Technologies will showcase its full-servo 8-color Ultraflex UFO press with a web width of 370mm. This machine, launched at Labelexpo India 2018, is equipped with a lot of bells and whistles including corona treater, web cleaner, line sensing web guide, de-lam, re-lam, turnbar, hot foil stamping with foil saver, cold foil, cast and cure, peel and seal attachment, and a quick-change hybrid LED UV system. The press also includes a vari-gap die-cutting station, sheeting station and an integrated large screen LED monitor.

Abhay Datta, director, UV Graphic Technologies, said: ‘With the smallest footprint in the industry, this machine is made for a clean room environment. It ensures near 100 percent register on job start-up and achieve full register within three meters waste.’ 

The press at the show will run at 200 m/min printing multiple substrates including 12-micron BOPP film, shrink sleeve, polyester film, in-mold labels, pressure sensitive material and heavy boards with the highest quality register.

‘It will be the international launch of our press so this show is very important for us. We expect an overwhelming response and are confident to sell the machine at the show and book several orders,’ added Datta. 

The company will also showcase its latest video plate mounter with new features, the latest range of UV curing systems and slitter rewinders at the show floor.

Datta says he will most definitely attend the Flexible Packaging and Automation Arena this year.
