Mondi has been recognized for its best-in-class sustainability reporting in the ‘Reporting matters’ ranking by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) for the fourth time in a row

Mondi’s 2021 Sustainable Development (SD) report was ranked in the ‘Top Performer’ category in WBCSD’s 2022 review of over 150 member companies’ sustainability reports.

Mondi’s SD report 2021 is commended for its detailed narrative around stakeholder engagement and its robust discussion of industry and company-specific challenges. Furthermore, ‘Reporting matters’ highlighted that sustainability is strongly embedded into the Group’s strategy and operations with all material issues linked to the Mondi Action Plan 2030 (MAP2030).

‘Every year, we strive to enhance our sustainability reporting to meet the fast-evolving disclosure demands of our stakeholders. 2021 marked a special reporting year for us, because we reported for the first time against our new MAP2030 sustainability framework,’ said Gladys Naylor, Mondi Group head of sustainable development. ‘We are delighted to see that we have successfully navigated this transition and have once again been named as one of the Top 10 global sustainability reporters by WBCSD.’

‘Transparency and accountability are among the most powerful drivers of change. Over the years, Mondi has shown a very strong performance in reporting credibly about their sustainability performance and in shaping the discussion around the most important challenges facing the forest sector, by taking a leadership role in the WBCSD’s Forest Solutions Group (FSG),’ added Angela Graham-Brown, director of the Forest Solutions Group at WBCSD.

The WBCSD produces ‘Reporting Matters’ with the aim of improving the effectiveness of corporate sustainability reporting. The organization reviews the reports against a pre-defined framework consisting of 18 indicators split into three categories on a zero to four scale. This year, 154 sustainability reports from leading global member companies were analyzed.
