Sun Chemical launches SolarFlex Neutron White UV flexographic ink
Inks supplier Sun Chemical launched its new SolarFlex Neutron White UV flexographic ink. This brand new technology offers label and package printing manufacturers the opportunity to lay a first down high opacity white with high printability, gloss, overprintability features. The system is available in Europe, the US and Canada.

Mark Walkling, European product manager for narrow web labels, said, ‘Our ultimate goal is to match the quality of UV screen and testing has shown that Solarflex is already outperforming competitive offerings. It’s a better alternative to screen inks and is more cost effective.’
The supplier is also promoting Pantone Live, a cloud-based color service, to improve operational efficiency in packaging execution. This is an effort by the company to provide service beyond ink systems. There are 22 libraries in Pantone Live – by substrate and process, and it covers about 80 percent of the packaging business today.
It offers secure access and is available through license. The main benefits of the system are color consistency to improve quality and efficiency in the process to save money.
Patrice Aurenty, business leader of color management for Sun Chemical said, ‘In the next two to three years, a good piece of the packaging industry will be using this system to deliver more consistency in their packaging color across processes and materials.’
