InkSure solution adopted by Turkish Government
The Turkish Government’s Telecommunication Authority, TTK (Turkiye Telekomunikasyon Kurumu), has selected InkSure Technologies of New York City, to provide its machine-readable hologram – HoloSure – to prevent smuggling of wireless equipment into the country.
TTK has initiated the program in an effort to control imports of telecom and electronic devices. The first several million HoloSure labels have already been delivered. TTK requires that all imported devices carry the security hologram as it provides multiple authentication levels by combining overt and covert security in one feature.
Encoded with InkSure’s SmartInk covert codes, the labels have two levels of inspection to determine whether an item is legitimate: the first by visually recognizing the holographic features and the second, by using portable hand-held readers that use proprietary algorithms and unique electro-optical techniques to conclusively verify the hologram.
In order to ensure maximum control of the HoloSure labels, TTK is purchasing them directly and then distributes them among authorized dealers. InkSure also provides the hand-held readers, which are used by TTK inspectors for on-the-spot authentication of items. TTK has made this initiative public in order to educate consumers and alert wireless equipment distributors.
Yaron Meerfeld, InkSure’s CEO commented: ‘In situations such as this, where security involves various audiences and inspection levels, the best solution in terms of security, practicality and cost savings is to add a machine-readable code into an overt feature such as the hologram.
‘One of the most appealing features for TTK was that no matter where the reader is placed on the hologram surface, it is able to detect the embedded code in a split second with a push of a button.
‘They are serious in their battle against illegal trade; all they were looking for were the right tools – and they found them.’
