European printers invest in Epson inkjet presses

Epson has reported strong uptake of its SurePress L-4033 series of digital label presses across Europe, with more than 50 installations across the continent since the series was introduced in 2010 and many customers taking more than one unit.

The 6-color SurePress L-4033A and 7-color SurePress L-4033AW are the world’s only aqueous inkjet label presses, and produce high-quality, high-value, short run labels on a variety of standard label substrates, including clear film and metallic substrates, and without the need for pre-treatments or coatings.

Some of those in Europe to have installed SurePress L-4033 presses include: Superfast Labels in the UK, which has installed two presses with the second replacing a flexo presses; Phenix Etiquettes in France ,which has invested in two SurePress L-4033’s to complement its offset, flexo and screen machines and print labels in quantities from 10 to one million; Germany’s Label24.de, which is using a SurePress L-4033 to enter new markets for short run, fast turnaround labels, and currently holds the record in Germany by printing over 5,000 sq m of labels in a single month; Italy’s MK, which has produced over 1.1 million labels in only six months using its SurePress L-4033A; and Etyprinter in Spain, which is using the SurePress platform to produce short runs of customized and personalized color labels, which were not commercially viable using analog press technology.

Marc Tinkler, senior manager of business development at Epson Europe, said: ‘Companies are choosing the SurePress L-4033 because they want the ability to produce consistently high-quality, short and medium volumes of labels quickly and cost effectively. Time and time again, we hear from our customers that the reliability of the press is superb – with little or no downtime.

‘Printhead maintenance is automated and ink cartridges can be replaced without stopping the press. What’s particularly good is that this press is opening up new business opportunities and revenue streams for our customers, which is why so many are now installing a second.’

The Epson SurePress L-4033AW will be demonstrated at Labelexpo Europe 2015, alongside Epson’s full line-up of label printing options from handheld label makers and desktop label printers, to high productivity digital label presses.
