Pressure-sensitive label and tag manufacturer Labels Unlimited has installed its second Durst Tau RSC E digital press, to replace some of the slower digital printers and aging flexo technology.

Labels Unlimited, which just celebrated five decades in the business, serves many markets, including food and beverage, household cleaners, CBD, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, blow-molding, industrial, personal care products, automotive, and other packaging-related industries.

The company is experienced in digital label production, having brought that service in-house in 2017. Since then, it expanded its print shop and needed a printer that could turn jobs faster and meet its high expectations. In 2022 the management made the decision to invest in the company’s first Durst Tau RSC E.

‘I was looking for more speed with consistent quality and colors, along with lower running costs,’ said Rami Akhras, owner of Labels Unlimited. ‘Print speed, quality, productivity, and versatility are all critical for us. We were not willing to compromise, and with Durst, we didn’t need to.’

Now faced with slower digital printers and aging flexo technology, Akhras decided to invest in a second Durst RSC E.

Durst RSC E technology offers 1,200 DPI quality and printing speeds of up to 170 ft/min  (upgradeable to up to 262 ft/min).

‘We continue to move more and more jobs to digital from flexo, and we need digital printers we can count on that are easy to operate. We have been able to easily transition jobs to the two RSC E printers and produce exceptional labels at fast speeds with very little waste or downtime. The RSC Es allow us to offer the best labels on the market at the most competitive prices,’ Akhras said.

‘It has been great working with Rami and setting Labels Unlimited up with technology that will continue to shape their future,’ added Steve Lynn, director of sales for packaging and label at Durst North America. ‘You can tell how enthusiastic everyone is about the quality of their labels, from the pre-press department to the machine operators to the team in finishing. It has been a privilege to work with such a devoted team, and we look forward to seeing how Labels Unlimited continues to grow and evolve.’

‘We, and our customers, have very high expectations when it comes to the labels we produce. The RSC E gives us exactly what we need,’ concluded Akhras.
