Lithotype has successfully commissioned the first Contiweb Thallo press in North America

Lithotype is an employee-owned flexible packaging printing and converting company. Operating out of the West Coast and the Midwest, it provides packaging options to some of the country's leading brands. Its portfolio of manufacturing tools includes web offset and flexography presses, laminators, cantilever slitters, color management systems and auto-registration technologies.

Contiweb Thallo web offset systems are produced and distributed under a strategic partnership between Contiweb and DG press, which initially introduced the Thallo platform to the market.

Established in 1963, Lithotype continues to invest in the latest technology to maintain its capabilities in print quality and quick turnaround times, as Bob Shoreen, senior vice president at Lithotype, explained: ‘Growing SKU counts and increasing graphics demands coupled with shorter lead times are increasingly becoming the norm within the markets we serve. The Thallo will provide our customers with exceptionally high print quality in combination with ultra-fast make-readies by utilizing a cost-effective sleeve-based web offset system.’

The press is also equipped with electron beam (EB) curing technology.

Shoreen continued: ‘The Thallo now makes it possible for us to set up jobs in a matter of minutes and the system’s many waste-reducing features deliver an unmatched solution for both short and long run packaging jobs.’
