UK printer invests in Edale to meet demand
AM Labels has installed a four-color Edale Alpha compact flexopress to help deal with its growing label printing operations.

The ISO:9001 certified company, founded in 1996 by current managing director Tony Mariani, started out selling desktop printers before expanding into label manufacturing after acquiring Applied Labels in December 2008.
At the end of April 2013, AM Labels took ownership of its new Edale Alpha, which joins an older Edale E250S machine purchased when the labelling side of the business was first started, and which continues to run to this day.
AM Labels will be using its new Alpha to produce synthetic labels for pharmaceutical and chemical companies, along with a wider range of water-based and UV labels. It is also looking at producing a wider variety of labels for food companies, and going forward will look into the production of four color process work and over-laminating.
Mariani said: ‘We have gained more business since having the Alpha installed. It has opened up more doors for our existing clients and paved the way for a wider range of customers and challenges.’
Tony Spooner, production supervisor at AM Labels, said: ‘The Alpha appealed to us for many reasons: the compact footprint and the fact it is compatible with our existing E250S tooling. I have run the 250S and so it was easy to translate my knowledge onto the new machine.
‘The quality and service we have received is second to none, and Edale has built a press not only to last, but also with operators in mind.’
Spooner added: ‘Edale was the obvious choice for our next investment due to us already owning an Edale E250S. We knew we could trust Edale and liked the reliability of a British made press, and being able to support British engineering at its best.’
Mariani concluded: ‘All in all, I will definitely be looking towards Edale when we look to expand in the future.’
