Kodak in ‘Innovation Hotspot’ at Global Secure Summit 2011

Kodak helped brand owners and global packaging professionals learn how to improve their brand protection, product authentication and tracking systems at the Global Secure Summit 2011, held recently in Prague, Czech Republic.
Kodak was among cutting-edge technology providers featured in the event’s ‘Innovation Hotspot’ that showcased the latest solutions and applications being used by brand owners to combat product diversion and counterfeiting.
‘Brand owners invest millions of dollars in brand protection countermeasures to defend against product diverters and counterfeiters,’ said the company’s Keith Cutri, a former FBI special agent. ‘But, if the counterfeiters and diverters compromise the brand owners’ countermeasures, the investment is lost forever. Companies need to implement layered security solutions that mitigate the risk of counterfeit manufacturing, while maximizing product tracking through the distribution channels,’ he added.
Kodak’s Innovation Hotspot featured demonstrations of its brand protection portfolio, including the recently announced Traceless AD system for antidiversion, a new track and trace authentication technology aimed to strengthen supply chain integrity. Brand owners showing interest came from the pharmaceutical, technology, and cosmetics industries, and were consistent in their need for applications with minimal impact on existing operations and investments. The drop-in capabilities of Kodak’s technology make these solutions easier for customers to justify and deploy.
The Traceless AD system uses an invisible ink that enables manufacturers to apply alphanumeric codes, barcodes and data-matrix codes for use on most major solvent-based continuous inkjet printers. Once applied, the special markings are made visible only with Kodak’s proprietary readers and viewers.
