KBA Rapida 105 for high-growth packaging market

Innovapack Embalagens is the latest Brazilian packaging printer to invest in new technology to cater for the booming domestic demand, when it fired up a new KBA Rapida 105 six-color plus coater press at its plant in Itaquaquecetuba near São Paulo.

Innovapack is one of the largest producers of packaging in South America, specializing in high-quality folding cartons, and the efficiency of its latest KBA press will enable Innovapack to raise its profile further in the food, beverages, soap powder and health care markets.

Company director, Juan Pino commented: ‘The market is in flux, and to keep pace with growth we must invest in new kit to boost capacity and productivity, and enhance quality. ‘

Alessandro Mattioli, production head added: ‘The Rapida 105 works a triple shift pattern demonstrating its ability on short runs and ultra-long ones of up to half a million sheets.  Our press crews were given in-depth training and see the new Rapida as a stimulating challenge.’

The six-color press has a maximum rated speed of 16,500sph, a print format of 740 x 1050mm and is mounted on a 375mm plinth.  It is configured with a delivery extension, IR and thermal dryers, automated blanket- and roller-washing systems, automatic plate changers and semi-automatic coating-plate changers for faster make-ready.  The ErgoTronic console makes for easy operation, while a remote maintenance capability ensures a rapid response to service calls.
