Komori adopts Landa nanography for digital printing systems
Komori Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, and Landa Corporation of Rehovot, Israel, have announced a global strategic partnership in which Landa will license Komori to manufacture and market digital printing presses using Landa's nanographic print process, which uses water based inks, and combines the versatility of digital with the qualities and speed of offset printing.
Yoshiharu Komori, president, chairman and CEO of Komori Corporation, stated: ‘As a specialist manufacturer of printing presses we see growing demand for variable data printing and personalization, especially for niche applications. And, with ever-growing customer demand for shorter run lengths and faster turnaround times, we have embraced Landa nanographic printing for our next generation of sheet fed and web fed digital systems, using water-based inks.’
Benny Landa, founder, chairman and CEO of Landa Corporation, commented: ‘Komori was the first to see our technology and share our vision, so I am delighted that the company is our first global strategic partner. The company is respected for its position in the printing industry and is well placed to accelerate the worldwide adoption of our nanography.’
Under the agreement, Landa will provide Komori with nanographic printing technology and Landa NanoInkTM. Using pigment particles that are only tens of nanometers in size, and powerful light absorbers, the technology gives unprecedented image qualities, characterized by uniform sharp dots, high gloss fidelity and the broadest CMYK color gamut.
The new nanographic process uses ink ejectors to apply digital ink images that have good abrasion and scratch resistance on a variety of substrates from coated and uncoated paper to recycled carton and plastic packaging films - all without need for pre-treatment or special coating, and with no post-drying requirement.
