Label Apeel acquires UK competitor

UK adhesive labeling designer and manufacturer Label Apeel has acquired its Thurmaston-based competitor Label Studio.
Label Apeel, which specializes in labeling for the food, retailing, manufacturing and pharmacy sectors, took Label Studio out of administration, following the firm’s collapse earlier this year.
The move sees Label Apeel acquiring the assets of the business and will also see the firm take on two of the former Label Studio team – former MD Dave Cox and the company’s former customer service manager. All manufacturing will also be moved to Label Apeel’s Leicester-based production facility.
Prior to its collapse due to an unforeseen bad debt scenario, Label Studio was a growing 10 year-old business with a reputable name in the bottle labeling sector.
In addition to enabling penetration of the specialized bottle labeling sector, the acquisition of Label Studio is expected to increase Label Apeel’s turnover by around 800,000 to almost 4 million.
Stuart Kellock, managing director of Label Apeel, said: ‘We have an enormous food industry presence and this acquisition will give us an excellent foothold in the beers wines and spirits sector.
‘Label Studio was an excellent business that fell foul of unavoidable circumstances – in spite of its great team, product range and excellent customer relationships.
‘We are proud to be able to revive that 10 year-old business and integrate it into our own buoyant offer, and are extremely excited about the new but complementary market sector we are now operating in, where we will be able to utilize our own expertise with that of Dave Cox.’
Established in 1982, Label Apeel works for names such as Greggs, Tilda Rice, The Condiment Company and Premier Foods.
