Label Summit India 2007, a high-level conference focusing on the growth opportunities in the Indian and international label industry, will take place on 7-8 March at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi. The summit will build on the outstanding success of the 2006 launch event, which welcomed 609 label industry professionals to the conference and tabletop exhibition. The event is again expected to welcome over 600 delegates.

This second Indian summit has already attracted leading brand owners and industry experts to speak at the conference. Directors and senior managers from Pepsico, GlaxoSmithKline, Tesco, Reckitt Benckiser, Mudrika Labels, Webtech Industries and Interlabels will take center stage at the conference. Mike Fairley, the internationally renowned label expert, will chair and open the first day of the conference by giving an overview of the global label industry and highlighting future trends, challenges and opportunities. It will be the only conference in India at which Mike Fairley will be speaking in 2007.

Other conference topics and highlights include: trends in the Indian label industry; the economic outlook for India; the benefits of digital printing, advances in RFID technology; and the role of the Indian converter as a global player. Several international converter panel sessions will also feature during the conference. A tabletop exhibition running alongside the event will feature over 45 top international suppliers including: Nilpeter, Gallus, Mark Andy, Avery Dennison, Omet, Esko, GEW, Gidue, Rotometrics, UPM Raflatac, Kaygee Loparex, Stork and Zeller & Gmelin, to name just a few.

Roger Pellow, Labels Group managing director, said: ‘We’re delighted to be back in India for a second year running. Our launch summit in 2006 was a fantastic success and we’re excited to expand the event even further. The Indian economy is really taking off and this is also matched by the dynamic changes in the label sector. The industry is growing at a phenomenal rate of 19 per cent per year so there is lots of potential ahead. We’re very pleased to provide a forum that captures these fast-changing developments and brings experts together who can in turn share their expertise and advice with the industry.’

The summit is supported by the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), the Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) and the Screen Printer’s Association of India (SPAI). Manoj B Mehta, the president of the AIFMP will be speaking at the conference and commented: ‘The All India Federation of Master Printers is delighted to associate itself with the Labelexpo Global Series for Label Summit India to be held in March 2007 in New Delhi. We are sure this will give an opportunity for Indian printers to keep abreast of the latest printing technologies. We look forward to working with Labelexpo on a very successful venture.’

Mr P.V. Narayanan, executive secretary of the LMAI, said: ‘The summit should provide a very useful forum to deliberate the worldwide developments in the label industry. It will benefit the lndian label industry greatly and in particular the LMAI is happy to extend its co-operation and work with Labelexpo.’
