Lancastrian Labels chooses Surfscan CHECKrewinder

Lancastrian Labels, a printer from Liverpool, UK, has placed an order for a Surfscan CHECKrewinder system to provide 100% web inspection on its Rotoflex VLI 560.
The Surfscan CHECKrewinder is designed for use at the final stage of a print process, providing the end user with a 100% print inspection guarantee – critical for the further improved level of customer service and quality assurance that Lancastrian Labels is aiming for. In conjunction with Surfscan, the system will be customized to meet Lancastrian Label’s exact quality requirements.
Bill Patterson, operations director at Lancastrian Labels, commented, ‘We undertook a thorough evaluation of the inspection systems on the market today, including some of the well-known industry players out there, however we were extremely impressed with the response from Surfscan. They arrived within a week of the original enquiry with a system which was exactly what we were looking for and left it with us for an agreed demonstration period. Although the other companies we were looking at price-matched the Surfscan system, they simply could not compete with this rapid and personal response. Once the system is in place, our intention is to grow in this area, and we will certainly look to Surfscan again to help up with our future needs.’
Damian Harvey, general manager for Surfscan, said: ‘We are delighted that Lancastrian Labels has ordered our CHECKrewinder system as they look to grow their share of the self adhesive label market through higher quality and increased capacity. We are completely convinced that by using the system the company will enjoy huge benefits, and we are looking forward to working together over the coming months.’
The CHECKrewinder utilizes many of the components familiar from the Surfscan CHECKpress system, and as well as being used individually such as with Lancastrian Labels, the two systems also work hand in hand. In combination with the CHECKpress, the defect map can be drawn on for checking of faults, whilst alone the CHECKrewinder can be configured to search for set defects. If a defect is found, the rewinder itself is stopped and the defective print is positioned over the visual inspection area for removal.
