Lexon Group looks to Screen for augmentation
South Wales-based Lexon Group has linked its entire operation with Screen's Trueflow 3 workflow as part of an investment program that includes the installation of a 4300S PlateRite platesetter and an additional Komori press.
The Trueflow 3 software has been installed to connect the company's screen, digital and lithographic divisions in a move that according to Lexon Group partner Benn Davis ‘puts Screen technology at the heart of the company’.
‘We worked closely with Screen in a project that would tie all of our divisions together in a move to automate our processes,’ said Davis. ‘The result is staggering. We are making significant time savings compared to when we were manually planning jobs in the studio. In addition to this, the Trueflow 3 software enables us to send out soft proofs via email. As well as having the effect of improving the speed of the approval process, this feature has enhanced our service offering to our customers.’
Davis continued: ‘We carried out some extensive research into the market place before opting for the Screen system. Although some other workflows on offer have similar networking capabilities, alternative manufacturers could not offer both the sophisticated software and a comparable platesetter engine. We wanted to work with just one supplier and the mix of technology and expertise offered to us by Screen put the company's workflow and thermal CTP system ahead of the competition.’
The Screen PlateRite 4300S platesetter, which is capable of producing 21 plates per hour, has quadrupled plate production in Lexon Group's prepress suite and has replaced the company's preceding Highwater system. The company is planning on increasing its rate of plate output further by switching to processless plates in the near future.
Lexon Group's PlateRite 4300S includes optional extras to improve speed, accuracy and quality such as inline punching, a single cassette autoloader and Spekta screening module.
Davis continued: ‘Lexon Group serves a number of well known retail companies with a full range of graphic art services including brochures, POS material and leaflets. Our clients demand the best results possible from the printed collateral that we supply, which is used to communicate leading brand names and products to consumers.
‘We are helping these companies realize their design and print aspirations by offering a quality that is only achievable with Spekta screening. Such first-class results are produced by using an AM and FM dot structure, which produces the most accurate, bright and sharp color for our customer's advertising and marketing campaigns.’
