Low-migration ink gaining ground

Zeller+Gmelin is expanding its factory in Eislingen by 2,000 square meters and installing a new production line for low-migration ink.  The new hall will also accommodate storage of raw materials and binding agents, with an automatic dosing system and area for the pre-dispersion of printing inks.

The extra facility will allow the company to develop its low-migration ink systems, and enhance the spatial and organisational separation of the production of conventional and low-migration inks.  The production of the low-migration ink series complies with the GMP regulations 2023 / 2006 of the EU ordinance.

More efficient production of individual ink series, and, in 2012, the introduction of automation, will give the company computer-controlled preparation of the batches for the dosing of binding agents.

The new hall comes six years after the special analytics center was enlarged.  The center develops low-migration ink, and controls the selection of raw materials and internal verification of test samples.

‘We are pioneers in this field and are fully aware of our special responsibility’, said Marcus Ruckstädter, sales manager of printing inks at Zeller+Gmelin.  ‘We launched one of the first low-migration UV-inks in 2006, and now offer low-migration UV-inks and UV-lacquers for almost all applications.’
