Label Solutions Ltd, near Brentwood in Essex, is among the first UK label converters to install Nilpeter’s latest FB-Line narrow-web press. The company has grown quickly from its formation four years ago serving the trade label market, and also dealing directly with packaging buyers, all over the UK. Its new FB-2500 has six UV-flexo units and a printing width of up to 273 mm. The print length is 609,6 mm. Equipment includes two rotary die- cutting units, inter-deck UV-curing modules from GEW, a TecScan video web inspection system and a sheeter for roll-to-sheet production of promotional labels and window stickers.

FB-Line presses are a completely redesigned range of presses available in three web widths. They are described as durable, high performance machines that can operate for lengthy periods at speeds up to 228 m/min. High quality printing on filmic or paper pressure-sensitive substrates is aided by helical gears on the printing cylinders. Slide-out print stations and drop-in cassettes allow for fast make-readies, aided by Nilpeter’s Instant Registry Response system for adjusting registration without affecting web tension.

Label Solutions’ latest press augments existing UV-flexo presses, a semi-rotary letterpress machine and facilities for hot foil stamping and thermal printing. ‘We looked at several presses with a similar web width from different suppliers, but none approached the speed and quality of printing, combined with ease of set-up, that we found with the FB-2500’, said Leslie Burden, managing director. ‘We guarantee delivery within agreed time scales; so fast turn-arounds are essential to our business. The new press will allow us to greatly expand our capacity to handle a wide mix of labeling requirements, from small to large-volume orders.’
