New Mark Andy products launched at Labelexpo
The recent launch of the highly anticipated Comco C2 line and other new products was pronounced a great success for Mark Andy at Labelexpo Americas. The exhibition was also the first North American showing of its complete workflow solution featuring the fully servo Mark Andy XP5000 press and VSR inspection rewinder. To round out all the new products, the Mark Andy 2200 press line was completely renewed and updated to reflect today’s technology.
The new ‘smart’ Comco C2 attracted large crowds to its live demonstrations throughout the expo. At its heart is the new I-Drive (Intelligent Drive System), which combines state-of-the-art servo technology with an advanced control system for both performance and ease of operation. Claimed to outperform ‘flexo print quality and processes’ across a variety of substrates at speeds of more than 300 m/min, the new C2 combines sleeve technology which is integrated into ‘intelligent’ multi process print decks that include flexo (water based and UV), screen, gravure, hot foil, cold foil, reversing print heads and solvent safe printing options.
Servo features on the new Comco C2 include fully automatic registration, pre-register, re-register, and fine-tune control of all functions from printing to die cutting. The operating system also provides online and offline troubleshooting, intuitive job set-up, machine operation, job save functionality, and full access to the entire production line from any of the machine’s control panels, which sets it apart from other servo adaptations.
According to Comco’s designers, the C2 is the ultimate ‘plug-and-play’ platform for printed packaging that will provide its users with single machine capability for whatever the market demands. The first C2 will go into commercial production with a Canadian converter and the company reports it is taking orders for delivery in 2007.
Following its successful showing in Brussels at Labelexpo 2005, Mark Andy continued showcasing the concept of complete workflow production. With 100% inspection capabilities, the VSR is available with several options from die cutting to high speed film applications. The ever extending VSR model range has enjoyed more than 20 sales in the past twelve months. By marrying it to the servo driven XP5000 line, Mark Andy demonstrated how high-speed output of top quality printed labels can be finished and inspected in a single workflow operation and delivered to the customer in time to meet today’s short deadlines.
For many years, the Mark Andy 2200 has been the press to which serious label converters have aspired. Now, the company has taken this well proven design and developed a complete range of option packages, the ‘2200L’, the ‘2200XL’ and finally the top of the line servo driven ‘2200XLS’. The 2200 is broadening its market appeal to label converters of differing size, experience and application variety. The completely redesigned 2200 line has the ability to match current requirements and subsequently be upgraded to meet changes in market demand.
Mark Andy, which was recently acquired by Morganthaler Partners, looks forward to continuing the momentum created at Labelexpo. It reports to be poised and positioned for aggressive growth across its three brands Mark Andy, Comco, and UVTechnology.
