GSE relaunches gravimetric flexo-gravure ink dispenser

GSE Dispensing has relaunched its Colorsat Compact gravimetric flexo-gravure ink dispenser for the board and flexible packaging converter.

‘The new version’s greater modularity, easy operation and straightforward installation gives a more flexible and economical way to enjoy effortless recipe management and controlled, repeatable color consistency, for a fast return on investment,’ said the company in a statement.

The new Compact gives the converter more freedom to choose the specification level that suits budgetary requirements. Any number of base ink containers is possible between 12 and 32 components. It is said to be easy to install, use, clean and maintain. Special features include a combined wet and dry cleaning unit, stainless steel horizontal plates to prevent ink clogging, a modular tray design and simplified drum connections. Buckets can be placed or removed at a comfortable working height.

Powered by GSE’s proprietary IMS (Ink Management) software, the Compact offers a fully integrated, automated ink logistics workflow, suited for the ‘Just-in-Time’ manufacturing environment, where standardized quality is essential. Make-ready time is cut, as water-based ink recipes, in batches up to 20kg are created effectively ‘on-demand’, in as little as two and a half minutes, to an accuracy of 1g.

Like others in the GSE program, the Compact reduces ink consumption and minimizes stock levels by calculating exact dosages needed for a particular print run and ensuring fast reuse of return inks in new recipes. Easy recall of previous dispensing orders assures identical results for repeat jobs, while all color components for each job are logged in a database for easy traceability.

Maarten Hummelen, marketing director of GSE Dispensing, commented: ‘We recognize that while everyone faces common challenges such as margin pressure, the need for top quality and to offer premium service, every business’s situation is unique. The relaunched Compact, with its many configuration options, gives the converter the chance to build a system to meet their own individual needs.’
