KAMA to debut SBU

New stripping and blanking unit to debut at label show

KAMA to debut SBU

KAMA is to debut its new stripping and blanking unit (SBU) at Labelexpo on September 24-27.

The newly-developed SBU 76 does all stripping and blanking without the need for expensive tools or manual processes. This allows quick and flexible job changes, saving time and costs and strengthening the advantages of digital printing, KAMA said.

The SBU 76 will be shown alongside a KAMA DC 76 die-cutting unit, and will be presented in a workflow with the HP Indigo 30000 digital press.

The German-based machine manufacturer KAMA was amongst the first to develop specific systems for the needs of digital print finishing, with the aim of satisfying short lead times and cost-efficient production of short and personalized runs.

KAMA chief executive officer Marcus Tralau said: ‘The first challenge is to keep the register precision throughout the entire finishing process. We solved this with our AutoRegister which aligns each sheet to a print mark with highest precision.

‘Secondly, digital printing needs flexible finishing solutions to come out profitably with short and medium-sized runs. This is where the new SBU is scoring:  As the unit does not need job-specific tools, job changes can be done quickly and flexibly.’

The KAMA ProCut and DC die-cutting units with AutoRegister and SBU are now also available for B2 format. Applications include hot foil stamping, blind embossing and die-cutting/creasing, and are completed by stripping, blanking and shingled stream delivery on the new SBU.
