Kolbus moves into packaging

German machinery manufacturer Kolbus, best known for its casemaking lines in the book printing industry, has moved into a new area of operation with its DA 260 machine.

Designed to produce 65 cases per minute, the DA 260 was recently demonstrated at an Open House in Germany running a variety of packaging items including boxes for wines and spirits, perfume, watches, jewellery and electronic items.

It also produced a complex pen box involving four separate boards - one of which was curved – and applied a magnetic closer.  Both box and inner liner can be manufactured automatically on the Kolbus machine.  This opens the market for producing a whole range of products automatically, using different types and sizes of board.

According to Kai Büntemeyer, Kolbus’ managing partner, the upcoming Drupa 2012 will give visitors an opportunity to see the direction of the new solutions the company has to offer.  ‘We look forward to welcoming you to our stand D22 in Hall 16,' he said.
