Laser Cutter for Cartons

Illinois based Spartanics, has launched a laser cutter for cartons that will appeal to pharmaceutical contract manufacturers and others with carton packaging applications because of its claimed cost savings.
The new machine cuts costs in three ways according to the manufacturer. First, it eliminates tooling costs of traditional die cutting machines. Second, it reduces make ready waste by 20%, and third, it saves up to 20% in set up time and associated labor costs.
Features of the Spartanics machine include: dual laser head design for cutting sheets up to 800 mm; unlimited sheet length and width up to 400 mm per scan head; accurate defect-free cutting of carton stock of 0.75mm or less; versatility with virgin or recycled materials; advanced scoring capabilities on cartons that perform better in folder-gluers than those die cut traditionally; optional bar code reading to enable change of cut configuration on-the-fly; proprietary fume extraction system; proprietary system for automated waste removal and conveyor belt cleaning.
