New Brand Color Proofing System with X-Rite Technology

London based LNS Print, a commercial proofing and 3D mock-up company, specializing in packaging and brand color management has taken a step forward in quality control innovation with the development of what it believes to be the industry’s most accurate proofing system, using X-Rite technology.  It is an advance that will help designers and brand owners ensure that their individual, unique, brand colors can be reproduced consistently and precisely.

By combining the latest in color communications technology with the use of enhanced commercial ink and advanced technical color reading equipment, LNS can now fingerprint the DNA of color.  Put simply, every color carries a unique set of information called spectral data - a digital fingerprint.

Once the spectral values of a brand color are measured, using an X-Rite SpectroEye spectrophotometer, the data is processed in LNS’ Blend Scheme.  Using X-Rite’s InkFormulation software, base pigments are mixed in-house to achieve exact, reproducible color matches.  These base pigments are exactly the same as the ink manufacturer uses to mix the colors for use on press, so the prototypes created are highly accurate.

At the heart of the LNS color-matching process is X-Rite’s CxF (Color Exchange Format), designed to accurately and unambiguously communicate all commercially relevant aspects of color across devices, applications and geographies.  The intent with CxF is to provide a base that allows transition of color from concept to output in diverse workflows, while retaining the possibility of comparing back to a common and unambiguous color specification.

CxF acts as a universal container for transporting complete color information from concept to final production. It faithfully carries the entire set of total appearance color reference data supplied by the content creator throughout the production and supply chain, maintaining the integrity of the original design and allowing global color communication with unmatched accuracy.

Once the client is happy with the mock up created, the color data can be shared with the ink manufacturers so that colors that can be precisely matched by any flexo, gravure or litho printer, anywhere in the world.
