Omet launches entry level iFlex
At Labelexpo Americas 2016, Omet has launched its iFlex press into the North American market.
Omet sales director Marco Calcagni described the iFlex as an ‘entry level machine, but not entry level in terms of quality and features.’
Features of the press are the iLight laser beam used to line up the plate cylinder before starting the press, and a further iLight which helps set up die cut to print registration. The press retains features from Omet’s top of the range equipment in the form of the iVision inspection system and the smart auto registration cameras on each print unit which capture a central print repeat mark.
Calcagni also pointed out that the press is printing 7-color extended gamut without needing servo motors: the press is line shaft driven but with direct drive of the printing and converting units without gears. The press is completed with a rapid load die change system which does not require lifting and Omet’s Rock ’n Roll stripping unit.
Also on the stand is an XFlex X6, which is Omet’s best selling press in the North American market along with the Varyflex V2.
Calcagni outlined Omet’s digital strategy, which is to retain its alliance with Domino - fully incorporating the N610i print engine into the JetPlus hybrid press - while selling X6 converting units to Durst.
Also new is a cold foil unit developed jointly with Kurz, which incorporates foil saving.
Calcagni said last year was Omet’s best ever in the North American market, with 16 installations, and the company recently opened a demo center and new HQ in Elk Grove Village.
