Seal-It’s shrink labels for AgroLabs made from PLA film

Seal-It, a division of Printpack, has produced its first commercial full sleeve shrink labels made from Earthfirst PLA film. The goal for AgroLabs was to take its bottle out of the box and produce dazzling labels that contain all the information that was previously on the box.

Four shrink labels were converted and printed for AgroLabs’ ‘Naturally’ line of nutritional supplements: Naturally Pomegranate, Naturally Noni, Naturally Thai Mangosteen and Cranberry. PLA was the substrate of choice primarily because AgroLabs was looking for source reduction and more sustainable packaging for its club store customers. Seal-It prints these labels rotogravure in 8-9 colors in 2 mil PLA. The shrink labels have 360-degree image area, which provided room for graphics that pictured the contents of the supplement, information pertaining to the ingredients, nutritional information and a barcode. The PLA film is compostable and will shrink to the contours of the glass bottle, providing a high gloss, premium look that meets the customer’s need for an environmentally friendly package.
