Xennia introduces Aquamarine inkjet system to US market

At Pack Expo in Chicago, Xennia will introduce to the US market its Aquamarine inkjet printing system for boxes, cartons and secondary packaging.
Aquamarine prints full-color graphics, logos, barcodes and other data onto the sides of rigid box and carton packaging. The system prints onto two opposing vertical sides of rigid packaging such as EPS boxes, chill boxes, bottle crates, transit packs, plastic trays and other secondary packaging.
Dr Alan Hudd, Xennia’s managing director, said: ‘It is increasingly important for brand owners to create attractive packages that stand out in the crowd. The Xennia Aquamarine is a unique solution that helps them make a difference. Package printers can address new markets and develop business opportunities as they offer more creative and personalized packages for their customers.’
The system can use UV- or solvent-based inks, with a print swathe height of up to 120 mm and line speed of up to 40 m/min, equating to over 1,800 boxes per hour using 800 mm boxes. Automated maintenance and variable data printing capability are also available. The system includes a substrate transport conveyor, and can be used standalone or integrated into a production line.
‘The increasing need for short runs and variable data, including branding and product information, calls for digital solutions in the packaging industry,’ said Dr Hudd. ‘The Xennia Aquamarine is based on Xennia’s proven inkjet technology and has been designed to provide the complete production solution for rigid packaging printers. The Aquamarine enables packaging printers to introduce a low-risk digital solution to their business, allowing economical printing of short runs, fast response to customer demand and the ability to personalize packaging by printing variable data.
‘This system offers unrivalled capability for rigid package printing applications. The technology is being used successfully at a number of customer sites in the packaging industry in Europe and is now being introduced into the US market.’
