Packaging and self adhesive labels company The OPM Group have completed a 200,000 re-fit of their Nilpeter FA-3300 UV flexo press, adding auto register upgrades and GEW lamp systems.  The improvements are designed to complement their 1 million investment in their Nilpeter FA-3300S servo press in 2005.

MD Chris Ellison said: ‘We bought our first FA-3300 in 2000, and it was the first Nilpeter dual substrate combination press in the UK. It has produced some fantastic work for us, not least of all almost forty international print awards.  However, even with its legacy of excellent work, we realized an upgrade would be a useful investment.’

Ellison explained: ‘The re-engineered press now features the GEW VCP cold UV system, which combines quick curing capabilities with minimal heat.

‘The reduction in stretch offered by GEW VCP makes managing innovative substrates less complicated. The press now gives results that are more predictable and wastage is significantly reduced.’

Ellison says that the benefits of a servo press are demonstrable.  ‘Set up speeds are reduced and initial registration capabilities are first rate. The consistency of the servo drive also means that production speeds can be ramped up quickly with no damage to the substrates – especially flexibles.’

The group specializes in providing short run quantities to new product development managers and marketing managers from blue chip brands to create small batch of a product to test with customers, or to conduct market trials.

Ellison says that the re-fit will enable The OPM Group to complement and grow further the quality of their print capabilities and significantly expand capacity, to meet increasing demand for their services.

Founded 32 years ago, OPM has seven other Nilpeter presses from a relationship dating back over 14 years.

The re-fit confirms OPM’s continuing commitment to Nilpeter.  Chris Ellison says: ‘Nilpeter remains our natural choice of press. Technically, they are a very strong press manufacturer.’
