Optimus opens Dutch subsidiary
Optimus, a European MIS supplier, is to increase the services it provides printing companies in The Netherlands by establishing a subsidiary in Amersfoort. Optimus Management Informatie Systemen BV will begin trading on January 1st from the premises of the current distributor DBS Business Solutions BV.
‘We have an excellent working relationship with DBS, which has represented the Optimus MIS products in The Netherlands for many years,’ said Henny van Esch, the international director at Optimus and the person who will head the new subsidiary. ‘To help enable a seamless transition the new company will operate from the premises of DBS and we will take on one of its staff experienced in MIS systems.
‘Sales, training and support for all existing and new customers will be handled by Optimus in The Netherlands from January onwards. With a direct link to customers we will be in a better position to meet their individual needs. In addition, developments in MIS and JDF technology continue at an increasing pace and it is more difficult for a distributor to maintain the high degree of knowledge required. It became clear that the logical solution was for Optimus to form a subsidiary dedicated to MIS technology.’
Optimus already has subsidiaries in several countries, including Spain and Australia. Its modules cover all aspects of MIS, including estimating, job tracking, JDF Integration, production scheduling, shop floor data collection, costing and invoicing.
‘Internationally we have customers in a wide range of sectors, from sheet-fed and web-offset commercial printing to digital, direct mail and packaging,’ said Henny van Esch. ‘We already have some 20 customers in Holland and we view the Dutch market as being extremely important going forward, otherwise we wouldn’t be investing in the way that we are.’
