Benson invests in youth

Benson Group, one of the UK's leading privately owned carton printers, has appointed three apprentices to positions at its Bardon headquarters in Leicestershire.
This year's appointments consist of one in the press room, one in customer services and one in the pre-press and CAD area.
This includes Rebecca Timson (pictured, above), who is the new pre-press and CAD apprentice at Bardon.
David Midgley, operations manager at Benson Group’s Bardon site, said: ‘As a business we believe that we have an obligation to our local community to help in the development of young people in the area. By investing in young people we also believe that we are investing in the future of folding cartons, and helping to plan for our own customers’ future.
'Print has something of a strange image in the minds of the young – some consider it a dirty job, whilst others perceive it as a little old fashioned. When they see our plant they quickly change their minds. We are offering a pathway to a highly skilled job with excellent levels of pay, but we have struggled to find youngsters with the right attitude.’
