The Label Store UK has appointed another staff member to its business development team, furthering the company’s rapid expansion within the label manufacturing, barcode printing and auto-ID equipment market.

Alastair MacTavish has been appointed as business development manager for the North, taking the BD internal and external department to a six-strong team. MacTavish brings over 30 years of labeling and adhesives experience to the Label Store, enjoying previous business development roles at leading label companies based in the UK and Ireland. He has extensive experience in the Scotland/North England markets, and has also valuable European experience, working with major power tool and electronics/controls companies in Eastern Europe on their labeling and supply chain strategies and processes.

The move is a result of increased turnover due to demand for the Label Store’s manufactured printed and blank labels, barcode printers and auto-ID equipment, and takes place on the eve of the launch of the new 1,700 square meter manufacturing unit and extra printing capacity due to take place in May.

The operation expansion began last year with the acquisition of the facility which is set to provide new conference facilities and a customer focus center for Label Store customers and prospects.

MacTavish said: ‘I am delighted to join the Label Store at this critical stage in the business. In a market that’s currently overwhelmed by doom and gloom, it’s refreshing to come in to a business that is doing well, and work with a capable and friendly team. I have worked with a couple of key Label Store executives previously, and the synergies there are unbeatable, which translates into great benefits for our growing customer base.’

Andrew Mansfield, sales and marketing director, said: ‘I am thrilled Alastair has decided to join us. We are now able to give our Scottish and Northern clients and even deeper personalized service when it comes to their labeling and barcoding requirements. The expansion program is going to plan, and I am excited to also say that we’re going to be making another major business announcement in the next month or so that looks set to revolutionize the thermal transfer ribbons market – watch this space!’

Robin Stammers, director of the Label Store and sister company Mediamec, said: ‘I am very pleased with the performance of the Label Store over the past year, since we made these initial announcements. Andrew has done a terrific job developing the team so far, helping to make my vision of increased growth become a reality. The 22 percent turnover increase in the second half of the year is a result of hard work from the team, who have pulled out the stops ensuring that we continue to satisfy customers old and new, delivering our products and services to the high standards that our client base expects.’
