Pitman to have new president in 2009

Pitman Company, an independent North American graphic arts supplier, has announced that Joe Demharter, who has been president of the company since 2001, will step down from the post at the close of the company’s current fiscal year on March 31, 2009. In accordance with the terms of his agreement with the company, he’ll remain on the board of directors and enter into a consulting arrangement. Peter Moore, executive vice president of sales, has been named to succeed him as president on April 1, 2009.


Paul F. Schmidt, Jr., chairman and CEO of Pitman, said, ‘Joe has headed the company during the technology revolution that has dramatically changed the business dynamics of the graphics industry. In that environment, he expanded our portfolio of digital products and support services, successfully completed several important acquisitions that have widened our marketplace, and become a very visible and recognized industry leader. His valuable contributions have positioned Pitman Company for the next exciting phase of our growth when Peter Moore assumes the post.’

Moore has 28 years of experience in the graphic industry. He began his career with Pitman in 1991, advancing through several positions within the company, starting as sales manager and then branch manager of the company’s Exton location to senior vice president of sales and operations for the company. His industry experience prior to Pitman includes sales management posts with Agfa and 3M Company. He is a graduate of Villanova University.
