PGA Global's 3rd fall technical conference
The third Fall Technical Conference was held at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 19-21, 2005 with 183 attendees representing 125 companies. This represents an increase of 83 per cent above the last Fall Technical Conference held in 2003 in San Antonio, Texas.
The conference focused on many of the technical issues and challenges that face the gravure printer every day. Emphasis was on the cylinder-round or elliptical engraving, dispelling the need for cylinder proofing, and the inter-action required of the cylinder, ink/coatings, and doctor blade. Informative sessions were held on pressroom safety, ‘Are You Current With Regulations?’, adhesives and coatings, and the economics involved in making a decision to rebuild or replace a gravure press.
Attendee response to the Fall Technical Conference was overwhelmingly positive, a spokesperson said in a statement. Ninety-seven per cent stated that they received useable information and/or key contacts. Furthermore, 95 per cent stated that they will attend the next PLGA Global Technical conference.
The statement continued: ‘Due to the growing demand from our members for more technical information on a more current basis, the PLGA Global changed the Fall Technical Conference from a ‘biennial’ to an annual event. The next Technical Conference will be held in October 2006. If you have not attended one of these conferences, you are missing an important opportunity to familiarize yourself with the latest technology changes and problem solving solutions available in gravure today. Gravure printing technology continues to change and improve. PLGA Global is committed to keeping the Gravure Packaging and Label Converter informed, educated, and thereby, productive.’
The Ninth Annual Operational Conference, ‘Gravure Leads the Way’, will take place on March 1-3, 2006 in Miami, Florida. For more information, log onto http://www.plga.com/
