Label Summit Japan, taking place at the Tokyo International Forum on 25-26 April 2006, is the country’s only international conference dedicated to the label industry. With pre-registration only just open, over 100 delegates from across Japan and other key label markets have already signed up for the summit. With two months still to go, this highlights the strong demand for places.

With 52 per cent of the total Asian label market and the second largest label consumption in the world, the Japanese label sector is thriving. There are set to be major changes within the market and the summit provides an ideal focal point for industry players to share information about the latest trends and developments affecting the productivity and profitability of their business. Delegates will gather in Tokyo to do business; research new opportunities; and get a unique chance to meet and talk with leading Japanese and international label industry players.

The summit’s in-depth conference program is packed with high profile speakers including global experts Mike Fairley and Andy Thomas.  Fairley will open the conference and will also share his expertise and insights on the impact of smart and intelligent labels on the current and future market.  Other prestigious speakers include: Mitsuo Komiyama, president of the Japan Federation of Label Printing Industries (JFLP) who will deliver a keynote presentation on the Japanese label market and its potential for extensive growth; and Natsuki Uchida, editor of the publication Label Shimbun who will analyze the requirements of Japanese label converters.

Other hot topics on the conference agenda include the latest developments in UV flexo press, digital pre-press and plate technology, environmental and legislative changes and brand owners’ future requirements to name a few. Leading industry suppliers from across the world will be exhibiting alongside the conference.  Nilpeter, Gallus, MPS, Gidue, HP Indigo, Lintec and Omet will all be taking part in the exhibition.

Roger Pellow, Labelexpo managing director, said: ‘The Japanese label market is thriving and we are very much looking forward to being in Japan with this high level conference from the Labelexpo Global Series. We’re delighted to create a distinctive platform for local printers and international suppliers to come together to identify the best opportunities for the future of their business. At the summit, delegates will benefit extensively from hearing case studies and in-depth insights from some of the world’s leading players all gathered in one room.’

The event is supported by Label Shimbun and the Japan Federation of Label Printing Industries (JFLP). Label Summit Japan is expecting over 300 visitors from across Japan and other important global markets.
