The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation adds free internship posting with PrintWorkers.com
The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) that administers scholarships for the PIA/GATF and its affiliates, litho clubs, organizations, companies and individuals, has announced that it has added a free posting service for print industry internships, available to all scholarship recipients. The web service was implemented for PGSF by PrintWorkers.com.
Currently over 230 students attending 84 schools receive financial assistance through PGSF. PGSF manages more than $8.5 million in endowments for its donors.
For the past two years, all active PIA/GATF members have been able to search PGSF student resumes free of charge. The new free option allows PIA/GATF members to post internships for students. Students can either search the job bank for internship opportunities directly, or they can be notified when new internship opportunities are posted. PrintWorkers.com, an internet job board for web, copy and printing professionals, has donated the entire service, including all programming time and costs.
‘PrintWorkers.com wanted to create an easier opportunity for companies to hire PGSF students for internships,’ commented Brian Regan, president of PrintWorkers.com. ‘It's been a battle for our industry to attract young talent and it requires creativity and a focused effort to build a foundation of programs to appeal to them. These tools-and the other services provided by the PGSF-matter to students and parents. When they see an industry support itself with quality resources, it imparts two things: an interest that an industry really cares about its future, and an easier environment to make timely career connections.’
‘Every year we introduce our new scholarship students to the PGSF online job bank,’ explained Ted Ringman, VP of development at PGSF. ‘Now, beyond finding full-time opportunities for graduating students, we are introducing a way to get students involved in the industry while they're still in school. Many of our past recipients are in leadership roles of printing companies. This internship program gives future leaders a head start.’
