Print service provider Qubic Print Direct has installed an HP Indigo press 3050 at its site in Chester, UK. Originally founded in 1986, Qubic specializes in the production of short-run collateral such as Christmas cards, gift vouchers, multi-part sets, personalized stationery, leaflets and labels. Until the installation of its digital HP Indigo press 3050, the company produced these applications on lithographic presses using letterpresses for personalized work.

Qubic decided to expand into digital printing to allow it to maximize productivity and reduce the turnaround time on short-run items. After undertaking extensive research into digital presses, Qubic decided that HP Indigo technology was capable of fulfilling its customers’ printing requirements.

‘The HP Indigo press 3050 was the only press in its class that truly enabled Qubic to meet the diverse needs of our customers,’ said Mike Griffiths, operations director, Qubic. ‘From our research we concluded that the reliability and the versatility of the press is second to none. This opinion was supported by speaking with both users and manufacturers of digital print products throughout the whole HP Indigo press range.’

As a new HP Indigo customer and adoptee of digital printing, Qubic was encouraged to take part in HP’s support program for customers promoting their businesses in the digital market. Representatives from Qubic attended the ‘Maximizing the Digital Opportunity’ and ‘Digital Selling Skills’ courses launched under the HP Capture business success program.

‘As a new user of digital printing technology, I would recommend both of the courses; they were very helpful,’ said Steve Dedo, marketing director, Qubic. ‘We were encouraged to think about how best to market the products and discussed creative selling techniques. The course really helped me to appreciate the advantages of digital printing and to consider how it can benefit our customers.’
