RotoMetrics has opened a new 200 sqm Converting Technology Center at its headquarters near St. Louis, Missouri.  Designed to demonstrate the most advanced die cutting and modular processing equipment in the industry, the Center is also used for research and development.

Steve Lee, VP of Technology stated: ‘It’s a unique facility that shows converters just how impressive this equipment is.  Customers like to see how their products perform when running live jobs, and we can show them first-hand how much more productive their operations could be.  It also allows our R&D team to engineer and test products to keep RotoMetrics and its customers at the forefront of technology.’

Star of the show is the new 660 mm (26”) Rotary Processing Module, designed to convert a wide range of materials from flexible packaging, to folding cartons and pressure-sensitive labels.  Applications include creasing, die cutting and embossing with solid or flexible dies in processing widths up to 864 mm (34”).

‘Converters want to maximize efficiency on high-output, high-speed applications, so RotoMetrics has designed the unit to meet those needs,’ said Ulrich Kretzschmar, business development manager at RotoMetrics, adding: ‘the Rotary Processing Module provides the accuracy in flexible packaging that is essential for resealable packaging.’

Also on display at the Center is a 406 mm (16”) Pantec Electroman hot foil stamping system that is capable of running higher run speeds than conventional systems.  Andy Schmitz, product manager, commented: ‘The Pantec system utilizes a unique, oil encapsulated hybrid mandrel, which allows for even heat distribution across the cylinder surface.  The mandrel is heated electrically and the encapsulated oil ensures efficient heat transfer and offers clean, safe and reliable operation.  The system is designed for retrofitting to most existing flexo presses.’
