Founded in 1964 by Alfred Remmele, the family-managed enterprise operates 22 sales offices and production sites in Germany, France and Switzerland.

Südpack Packaging Group specializes in hard/soft films and plastic bags. The films are printed using flexographic and rotogravure printing processes. Südpack Medica, a subsidiary of Südpack Verpackungen GmbH & Co. KG, manufactures sterile packaging for the medical industry under clean room conditions. With some 1,000 employees, the corporate group generated more than 330 million EUR (417 million USD) in sales in 2013.

It hosted a large party of invited guests at its headquarters in Ochsenhausen, Germany to celebrate its 50th anniversary in September 25.

The Südpack Future Summit addressed social trends that will affect tomorrow’s packaging and was attended by 350 invited guests.

Hanni Rützler, future-food expert and publisher of the Food Report, and Sven Gábor Jánszky, trend researcher and director of the 2b AHEAD Think Tank, offered insights into the most significant future developments in food, lifestyle, working life and consumption.

Südpack founder Alfred Remmele, managing partners Carolin Grimbacher and Johannes Remmele, and Dr Ursula Koners, an expert on family-managed companies, joined other industry experts in a retrospective of Südpack milestones from the past 50 years. Highlighting current market trends and the challenges of global competition, the panelists outlined how Südpack supports the innovative strength of its customers.

Grimbacher said: ‘With our focus on new technologies, we live and breathe packaging. We look back on years of experience and understand the needs of today's markets. Our continuous investments in research and development enable us to react quickly to new customer demands.’

Earlier this year, Südpack presented an array of new developments at Interpack, including the new and ultra-thin, puncture-proof foil Veraplex.
