Shorewood Packaging first to attain Heidelberg color certification

Shorewood Packaging is the first packaging company in the UK to attain Heidelberg’s ISO 12647-2 certification.  The company undertook the Print Colour Management program to extend its market and add wider consumer packaging work, whilst retaining its presence in carton production for the entertainment industry.

Certification involved upgrading its two five-color presses, a CD 74 and an SM 74, and implementing a more structured maintenance programme and undertaken training in both the theoretical and practical issues of color with its upgraded Image Control spectrophotometer.

The capability of producing ISO 12647 standard work has already secured tests and contracts from retail packaging buyers and the upgrades to the Heidelberg presses have given the company and its customers great confidence in color quality.  This is important to the many leading international brands in its portfolio, and is part of a pan European objective for Shorewood.
