Sixth Labelexpo Asia opens in Shanghai
The biggest ever Labelexpo Asia show opened yesterday, 3 December, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) with first day attendance up by 24 percent over the 2011 show. This year the show celebrates its tenth anniversary in China.
At the opening ceremony, Tan Jun Qiao, chairman of PEIAC, the Chinese printing machinery association, said that the Tarsus Group’s Labelexpo Asia has helped achieve the growth seen in the Chinese labels industry in the last few years. ‘From 2009 to 2011, the China label market grew by 20 percent and the estimated growth this year will be around 15 percent,’ he said. ‘This growth helps Chinese converters and printers acquire high quality machines, new materials and technologies.’
Also present at the opening ceremony were Wu Wen Xiang, president of the China Printing Association; Kurt Walker, chairman of Finat; Doug Emslie, group managing director at Tarsus Group; Lisa Milburn, managing director of the Tarsus label division; John Davy, sales director of Labelexpo Global series, and Andy Thomas, Tarsus Labels group managing editor.
Labelexpo Asia 2013 has two halls with around 300 exhibitors of which about 60 companies are exhibiting for the first time this year. There are more than 70 running machines and 20 plus product launches on the show floor.
‘We are now one and a half days into our four day show and I am astounded whilst delighted by the extreme volume of traffic and numerous serious discussions ongoing on the show floor,’ said show director John Davy. ‘In our ten year history this show has never had as many visitors.’
