Sleever International, the global provider of sleeving solutions, this year helped Jean-Paul Gaultier produce a collector’s item with its innovative sleeve for the aquarium themed fragrance produced by Shiseido as a summer 2005 limited edition for the French designer.

‘We had to produce something really special; a one-off which people would want to own as soon as they saw it,’ said Eric Masson, Sleever International’s European sales director. ‘The two designs by Beaut Prestige International, one each for men and women, take up the Aquarium theme.’

The sleeve was applied to a transparent plastic case in the shape of Gaultier’s distinctive can. The bottle containing the fragrance went inside the case. ‘This meant that the sleeve had to be as transparent as possible, so that the printing on the bottle would remain visible behind the printed design on the sleeve,’ continued Eric Masson. ‘The fact that you can see the bottle inside the case is one of the things that makes the product look really special. The combination of the printing on the bottle and on the sleeve gives a three dimensional effect which is truly striking.’

‘The security advantages of the Sleever sleeve are also vital for this type of product,’ added Masson. ‘It gives a guarantee of authenticity, because to open the bottle you have to break the tiny perforations in the sleeve. You can see immediately if it has been tampered with in any way.’
