Demand sees Comexi host second lamination course

The Manel Xifra Boada Technology Centre, part of the Comexi Group, has staged a second course looking at advance lamination in the flexible packaging market.
In June, it organized an advanced lamination course on June 18-20 at the Comexi Group facilities in Riudellots de la Selva and the Manel Xifra Boada Technology Centre classrooms at the University of Girona’s Science and Technology Park.
The advanced lamination course was designed for a maximum of 15 participants and targeted lamination section heads, plant managers, experienced laminating operators and other professionals working in the flexible packaging sector interested in acquiring and extending their lamination know-how.
The course commenced with a tour of Comexi Group’s facilities in Girona, and then moved on to focusing on key aspects of the lamination process, such as the material characteristics, adhesives, industrial process, solutions for possible defects, and productivity efficiency and control.
Practical sessions were held at the Comexi Group’s newly-opened 2,000-plus sq m demonstration center, equipped with 12 state-of-the-art conversion sector machines, including flexographic and rotogravure printers, laminators, cutters and logistics equipment.
The demand for places on the course was so high that the Manel Xifra Boada Technology Centre decided to organize a second edition, which took place on July 16-18.
Both the June and July editions of the course were taught in Spanish only, although the Manel Xifra Boada Technology Centre plans to hold further sessions targeting the English-speaking market in autumn 2013.
