Iggesund invites designers to 2013 Design Experience

- 2013 event follows successful launch in 2012
- Four-day event to take in forest management, sustainable design and other topics
Substrate supplier Iggesund Paperboard is inviting designers from all over the world to participate in its second Design Experience event.
The Iggesund Design Experience was staged for the first time in 2012 (pictured, top), and has been inspired by the large response the company has received from the design world for its Black Box Project, which gives well-known designers free rein to create unique solutions using Iggesund’s Invercote as a starting material.
From those who apply, 20 will be chosen to join the Iggesund Design Experience in Sweden in late August this year.
Iggesund Paperboard will host the 20 successful applicants for four days, where they will experience "nature, insights into product knowledge and lively discussions about sustainability together with fellow designers from around the world”, according to the material supplier.
The event itself will be completely free of charge but participants will need to pay their own travel expenses to and from Stockholm, Sweden.
Staffan Sjöberg, public relations manager at Iggesund Paperboard, said: ‘We usually receive significantly more applications to our events than we can accommodate. In order to ensure a wide range of participants, we must therefore create a shortlist based on such factors as design speciality and geographic location.’
The 2012 event saw attendees from the US, South Korea, Germany, Finland, Belgium and Lebanon, amongst others.
Designers wishing to participate in the Iggesund Design Experience 2013 must visit www.iggesund.com/designexperience.
Participants in the Iggesund Design Experience will visit the Swedish forests to discover more about how they function and are managed, and see how paperboard is made. They will also find out how they can use paperboard in new ways while also making the right choices from a sustainability standpoint.
Further discussions during the Iggesund Design Experience will focus on sustainable design and material selection, with the chance to question experts in such fields as forest management, water pollution/purification and food safety in packaging.
Sjöberg added: ‘The designers will invest their time – and in return we will give them some unforgettable days in the heart of Sweden.’
