PrintCity Alliance shows latest samples
PrintCity Alliance is presenting its latest packaging samples with high-end finishing, which have been created as examples for the luxury beverage market segment.

The series focuses on effects that can be felt, such as leather-like textures combined with real-looking buttons made of metal, and glossy logos and visuals.
The samples were produced in Weiden, Germany using a Gallus ICS 670 in-line production system. The processes used included gravure and flexo printing with various coatings and pigments, as well as laminating films, rotary debossing, hot-foil stamping and embossing. Suppliers participating in the project included PrintCity members Eltosch, Leonhard Kurz, Merck, Metsä Board, Océ, Sappi Fine Paper Europe and Weilburger Graphics, who were joined by numerous other partners, including AR Carton, Esko, Folien, Gallus, Gietz, Hinderer+Mühlich, Jowat, Marbach, Reproflex, Reproservice, Saueressig, Sun Chemical and Zeller+Gmelin.
The project has been summarised in a tutorial, which is available to download here.
The luxury drinks samples follow those for sweets as the second series in the Real Life Sample Project.
PrintCity Alliance said that studies have shown recall values at the point of sale are dramatically increased when packaging addresses multiple senses.
The possibilities of multisensory packaging production and many other topics, such as digital packaging printing, printed electronics and brand protection, was discussed further at the second Packaging Inspiration Forum of the PrintCity Alliance, which was held in Hamburg on February 19-20.
