SMI reports global interest at Labelexpo Europe 2015
SMI Coated Products, an Indian pressure-sensitive substrate manufacturer, has reported a successful Labelexpo Europe 2015, with enquiries received from all parts of the world including Europe, South America, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Africa and South East Asia.
Rohit Mehta, director at SMI Coated products, said: ‘At the show floor, we saw particularly interest in our filmic labelstock, tire and battery labels, and direct cool contact labels for fruits and vegetables.’
For the first time ever at Labelexpo Europe, the company exhibited its range of labelstock applications on different products ,which generated a high level of interest. ‘There is always some language barrier that one faces at global exhibitions. That’s why live application of labelstock on a product attracts more footfall than just a brochure,’ Mehta said.
Ajay Mehta, managing director of SMI Coated Products, spoke of the company’s filmic labelstock range, and said: ‘We have been manufacturing filmic labelstock for the last 10 years but not many printers are aware of the complete product portfolio we offer. Like all other labelstock solutions, we customize filmic labelstock as well, and have received very good feedback from the market. Our friends in the industry are very happy to become aware of these products.’
The company also handed out catalogs and a product specification sheet to printers to help them better understanding the labelstock they need to use for their respective industries.
The catalog features details of commonly used PP, PET and PE films along with suitable applications of each product, guidelines of selecting the right product and their test methods. The product specification sheet carries detailed description of new films along with their samples.
Ajay Mehta noted that SMI Coated Products was the first company in the world to ship an increased quantity of labelstock in one container, and said, where other companies were shipping 80,000 sq m of labelstock in one container SMI Coated Products was shipping 135,000 sq m. ‘It not only made us logistically sustainable but also gave us a competitive edge in the global market.’
