UPM and Soprema partner for label waste recycling

UPM Raflatac has partnered with Soprema to use label waste materials in insulation products, supporting the use of renewable sources in the construction industry in the EMEIA region. 

Soprema, one of the leading companies in waterproofing and a specialist in roofing and insulation, will transform the label waste collected through RafCycle by UPM Raflatac recycling service into new construction and insulation materials. With a presence of 123 manufacturing sites and over 120 subsidiaries worldwide, Soprema is known for its commitment to sustainable construction and investment in innovation.  

With this partnership, label waste is converted into insulation products, supporting the use of renewable sources in the construction industry at Soprema’s site in France. Insulation materials play a pivotal role in enhancing energy efficiency in buildings. Cellulose wadding is one the suitable for attic insulation because it offers high performance in different kinds of weather conditions.  

This collaboration will let Soprema integrate release liner as raw material for an insulation product that is more effective for all-season thermal comfort, Soprema’s management team commented.
