Sun Chemical builds new ink plant in Moscow

Sun Chemical has underscored its commitment to the principal growth markets in Eastern Europe by announcing its decision to build an advanced printing ink production facility in the vicinity of Moscow. The current plant in Moscow will be closed and the property disposed of.
The new Moscow production unit is the second major investment by Sun Chemical in Eastern Europe. The company recently opened another plant in Warsaw, Poland. According to Dr Gerhard Jaschek, group managing director Central and Eastern Europe, the planned Russian unit will incorporate the latest production technology and permit a considerably higher output of high-quality color inks for sheetfed, flexo and packaging gravure printing. It will also feature an advanced laboratory for research and development in the field of printing ink applications. The precise location of the new Russian plant will be determined shortly, once on-site evaluations have been completed.
The Russian facility will be home to Sun Chemical's entire Russian management and administrative work force, including an expanded sales and distribution team. It will also incorporate ink-mixing stations for selected customers. According to Andrey Ivanov, general manager of Sun Chemical Moscow Printing Inks, this new setup will allow every customer to benefit from innovative and application-specific solutions backed by a high degree of professional service and technical support.
